Acclaimed Films on Premium Latino Websites
Media Giant impreMedia to Anchor Program on impre.com Network of Sites
Los
Angeles, California, October 1, 2009 - Veranda Entertainment, a leading provider
of Latin programming for television, home video and broadband, and impreMedia,
the No. 1 Hispanic News and Information Company in the U.S. in Online and Print,
announce an agreement to make available for free a selection of acclaimed films
from the vast catalog of Veranda Entertainment on the impre.com network of premium
websites (www.impre.com) on an ad-supported
basis. Powered by Veranda's online video-on-demand portal, Butaca.tv (www.butaca.tv),
the program presents the most impressive collection of Latin films ever made available
online and in digital quality.
In the first of a planned series of partnerships,
Veranda Entertainment and impreMedia will deliver these films through a custom
movie section on impreMedia's internet properties on a free, ad-supported basis.
ImpreMedia's expansive user base includes the online versions of La Opinión
in Los Angeles, El Diario in New York and La Raza in Chicago and
its portal, www.impre.com. All content will
be easily accessed online for free through any computer or internet-enabled television
without any registration or software downloads.
"We
are excited to make these films available online for the first time," says
Randall Green, COO of Veranda Entertainment. "And in this model, everyone
involved wins. Users will now have access to content that has been not easily
available in the past; rights holders will develop a new revenue source ; and
our publishing partners get new content for their audience and new revenue streams
from their online portals."
"Adding
Veranda Entertainment's diverse collection of films to our already wide offerings
gives our audience more of what they want," says Arturo Duran, CEO of impreMedia
Digital. "We are very proud to continue to provide the Spanish-speaking community
with first class news and entertainment online."
The
program enables premium advertisers to access a vast, highly targeted group of
consumers using in-stream video and rich media ads. Veranda Entertainment has
plans to expand the program to include additional content producers and advertisers,
as well as publishing partners.
With
more than 600 offerings, Veranda Entertainment's catalogue includes some of the
most prestigious feature films made in Latin America, including landmark movies
from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, such as Nosotros los Pobres and A Toda
Maquina; the films of Mexican Cinema icon Pedro Infante and contemporary offerings
such as Betty Kaplan's Doña Bárbara and Eva Perón, directed
by Juan Carlos Desanzo. In addition, the company's library includes a wide array
of sports and lifestyle programming, documentaries, television, biographies and
