PROMINENT LATINO MEN HONORED

New York City, October 31, 2005 - El Diario La Prensa will hold its 2nd Annual
El Awards Luncheon at 12 noon on Thursday, November 3rd, 2005 honoring 23 outstanding Latinos at New York City’s Grand Havana Room.
El Diario La Prensa is recognizing 23 of New York City’s most prominent and successful Latinos for their contributions to the local community and the business world. Among the selected honorees are music legend Eddie Palmieri, radio personality Luis Jimenez, Latin music pioneer Ralph Mercado, and baseball greats Luis Tiant and Bernie Williams. In addition, several men within the media industry are also being recognized including Frank Flores, General Manager at SBS-New York, David Puente, Producer of ABC’s 20/20, Mario Bosquez, news anchor for WCBS TV, and Jorge Ramos, news anchor of New York’s Telemundo 47 WNJU. El Diario takes pride in its commitment to “inform, promote, empower and celebrate our diverse Latino community” and will continue to honor those who inspire all Latinos to excel. .

The honorees are featured in a special supplement to be published this Sunday, November 6th as an insert into El Diario.

In 2005, El Diario elevates the occasion by awarding $1,000 scholarships to six young Latinos entering college. This year’s scholarships are made possible by funding from Merrill Lynch, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and Johnnie Walker.
