New York, NY (June 26, 2007) –VISTA Magazine is proud to host the third annual VISTA Magazine Hispanic Health Awareness Luncheon. This special health event was created by VISTA Magazine to help address the many pressing health issues facing the U.S. Hispanic community today.
From diabetes, to heart disease, childhood obesity to cancer, Hispanics share many of the same health issues facing the rest of the U.S. Population. Hispanics also face other hurdles such as a lack of in-language information about health maintenance, potential treatments, and health insurance. Hispanics are also particularly concerned by the spiraling costs of healthcare.
Gustavo Godoy, publisher of VISTA Magazine adds, “VISTA is very proud to be part of the solution when it comes to making Hispanics more aware of the diverse health related issues that impact their community”.
The third annual VISTA Health Awareness Luncheon brings together top Hispanic health professionals from around the country, major Hispanic health organizations, and some of the most distinguished corporations in the health sector, to discuss solutions to some of the
medical afflictions facing today’s Hispanic families.
This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Manny Alvarez, the national medical correspondent at FOX News, and FOX News.com. Dr. Alvarez has written a book entitled The Checklist – a new book published by Rayo, which addresses the U.S. Hispanic population’s specific needs in
maintaining good health, from childhood through their golden years. The master of ceremonies is Doctor Aliza A. Lifshitz, Univision TV Network’s health expert since 1988. Doctor Aliza appears regularly on such programs as TV Mujer, Hola America, Al Mediodia, and Noticias y
Mas. Doctor Aliza also hosts El Consultorio de la Dra. Aliza, a national Spanish-language program on Univision Radio.
This year’s sponsors include, Glucerna, Astra Zeneca, The American Heart Association, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and CVS Pharmacies.
Among the Hispanic organizations participating this year will be The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), The Latino Commission on AIDS, Hispanic Federation, The Children’s Health Fund, Bone Marrow Transplant Infonet, Latinos for National Health
Insurance, and The National Institute for Latino Policy.
