ImpreMedia Newspapers lead again in Excellence Awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publications

New York, NY (April 18, 2007) – ImpreMedia, the largest publisher of Spanish language newspapers in the United States, was the lead award recipient during the National Association of Hispanic Publications’ (NAHP) 22nd Annual Conference garnering 29 awards. The José Martí Awards for Excellence in Publishing represent the most prestigious Hispanic media awards in the nation.

In the top category, Outstanding Daily Newspaper, La Opinión was awarded the first place Gold Prize and El Diario La Prensa received the 3rd place Bronze Award. El Diario La Prensa garnered the most awards of any single publication. Award highlights also include Gold Awards for El Diario La Prensa Outstanding Sports, Auto and Health Section as well as Outstanding Design of a tabloid. La Opinión received the Gold Award for Outstanding Entertainment Section, Outstanding Newsprint Magazine for its entertainment publication, La Vibra, and the Silver Award for its weekend publication, Contigo, in the same category. La Raza and La Prensa also received key awards for Written Word and Outstanding Photos and Cartoons categories.

ImpreMedia’s publications El Diario La Prensa in New York, La Opinión in Los Angeles, La Raza in Chicago, El Mensajero in the San Francisco Bay area and La Prensa in Orlando/Tampa dominated the NAHP awards with 15 Gold, 7 Silver and 7 Bronze awards for a total of 29.

The NAHP awards, formerly known as the Hispanic Print Awards, have been revamped and renamed after José Martí, the renowned journalist, Cuban hero, poet and statesman. This is the second annual José Martí Awards for Excellence in Publishing. The six categories for the awards included: outstanding publications, outstanding sections, written word, design, photos and cartoons and marketing.
