WOMEN'S ACHIEVEMENTS

NY (March 17, 2005) - El Diario La Prensa will hold its
10th Annual Women's Luncheon by honoring 57 outstanding Latinas
at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at The Plaza Hotel which
will feature a keynote by Senator Clinton. In addition, ten young
Latinas will receive $1000 college scholarships.
Among this
year's recipients of the "Mujeres Destacadas" award
are: Elizabeth Vargas, Co-Anchor, ABC News 20/20, Jackie Torres,
Manager of Promotions, Creative and Marketing Services, Spanish
Broadcasting Systems; Nina Diaz, Vice President, MTV News &
Specials; Ines Ferre, Correspondent, CNN en Español; Michelle
LaFountain, Reporter, ESPN Deportes; and Nina Garcia, Elle Magazine
Fashion Director.
"We are
proud to be honoring 57 women this year who are doing amazing
things on a daily basis and who are real life role models,"
said Rossana Rosado, Publisher & CEO of El Diario La Prensa.
"Our honorees represent the diversity that characterizes
our Latino community in the Northeast and make up an impressive
mosaic of remarkable cultural and professional talent," she
said. The honorees are featured in a special supplement to be
published this Sunday, March 20th.
The event
will feature the honorable New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
as keynote speaker, whose work in advancing women's causes helps
to inspire current and future generations of women. "We are
thrilled to have Senator Clinton be a part of our celebration
as her work in both public and private life have been exemplary
to the challenges women face and the fortitude needed to meet
such demands," states Rosado.
El Diario

established a decade-long tradition of honoring Latinas in celebration
of International Women's Month.
In 2005, El
Diario La Prensa elevates the occasion by awarding $1,000 scholarships
to ten young Latinas seeking to advance their education as they
prepare for their careers. This year's scholarships are made possible
by funding from Lifetime Television, The AXA Foundation, Washington
Mutual, and Center Care Health Plan.

- Author & Producer; Dr. Antonia Coello-Novello - NYS Health
Dept. Commissioner; and Daphne Rubin Vega - Actress.
