IAB Announces Winners of the 2005 Los Pioneros Award
The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), together with the IAB Hispanic Committee announced a group of ten Hispanic advertising leaders as the winners of the 2005 “Los Pioneros” Award (English translation: “The Pioneers”). The objective of the “Los Pioneros” campaign is to honor those forward-thinking marketers who have paved the way for Hispanic Advertising in the Online medium and who have successfully incorporated Interactive in their advertising and marketing plans.

Latin Spice
As America’s taste grows for zesty Latin food, the companies dishing it up are striking it rich. A 2004 Packaged Facts study titled The U.S Market for Hispanic Foods and Beverages said that Hispanic convenience foods” grew by 104 percent between 1999 and 2004. Expo Comida Latina, which bills itself as “The Hispanic Food and Beverage Show,” puts the total U.S. market for Latin food and beverages at $4.3 billion.

Illinois Wants More Hispanic Visitors
Illinois isn't particularly known as a magnet for Hispanic tourists, but the Illinois Bureau of Tourism is determined to change that. The campaign came about because the bureau realized the large number of Hispanics in Chicago formed a ready-made market.

Manufacturers are tapping a fast-growing market for bilingual games, Hispanic themes. As 6-year-old Lizbeth Sanchez helped her mother shop for Christmas presents on a recent December afternoon, she stopped, mouth agape, at the Dora the Explorer talking dollhouse welcoming her in English and her native Spanish.
