Latinos Account for Half of U.S. Population Growth Since 2000
“Since 2000 Hispanics have accounted for more than half (50.5%) of the overall population growth in the United States -- a significant new demographic milestone for the nation's largest minority group. During the 1990s, the Hispanic population also expanded rapidly, but in that decade its growth accounted for less than 40% of the nation's total population increase. In a reversal of past trends, Latino population growth in the new century has been more a product of the natural increase (births minus deaths) of the existing population than it has been of new international migration. As of mid-2007, Hispanics accounted for 15.1% of the total U.S. population.”

Between 1997 and 2002, the growth in number of minority women-owned firms was 57 percent, compared to 31 percent for minority male-owned firms."

Parents Show Strong Interest in School Involvement
“Parents across America share high hopes for their children's academic success and many know their involvement is vital. According to a national report released, Hispanic parents feel that they lack the information from schools about the requirements for graduation or how they can help their children meet those requirements. And parents with students in low-performing high schools are particularly frustrated that their schools don't give them the tools and information they need to be more effective in helping their students succeed."
